Your guide to Freestyle (AI Voice)
Freestyle is an AI Voice feature which will generate your notes from your transcript, following the appointment.
You'll need a microphone to use this feature
Find our mic recommendations here
How does Freestyle work?
Freestyle will listen in on your appointment/exam and create a transcript of what it hears. It then creates a set of notes using the information from the transcript.
You can choose to use a loose note framework such as 'Exam', 'Treatment' or 'Emergency'
(A great, flexible soultion - especially for emergencies)
OR
Have Freestyle follow the structure of any of your Kiroku templates.
(Great if you want notes to always follow the exact same format, and/or more contol over the structure of your Freestyle notes)
Freestyle can be used to listen in to a whole appointment, part of an appointment, or you can dictate a summary afterwards.
How to use Freestyle
Do I need patient consent to use this during an appointment?
As recordings are not stored patient consent is not legally required, however, we do strongly advise this as a courtesy to your patients. More info here
- The 'Freestyle Appointment' button can be found at the start of your template library on your dashboard.

- Click the microphone button to start.

- Start speaking and Freestyle will create a transcript of all that is said. You'll see this as a feed in the sidebar.
NOTE: When using Freestyle during an appointment, you may need to vocalise things more than you are used to. Stating things in very clear terms, will help give clarity and context to the AI, helping improve the quality and accuracy of your notes. - To stop the transcript once complete, or at any point, select the stop button. You can stop and start Freestyle at any point.
- Use the 'Add Context' button to add previous notes, or details that didn't make it into your transcript. If you add a previous set of notes Kiroku Freestyle will update them to reflect your transcript e.g. you could paste in a patient's previous recall exam notes, then remark in the transcript that they've since developed gingivitis.
- Once you've stopped recording you can select the loose framework (e.g. 'Exam' or 'Emergency') or Kiroku template you would like to use and the level of detail you would like from the bar which appears at the top. This information will help guide the AI on how to format your notes.

- Click 'Write my notes' (in the top right corner) to turn your transcription into high quality notes.
- If you'd like to adjust the level of detail, or change the framework or template type, make the change using the drop-down, then select rewrite my notes.
- If you want to make any final tweaks you can free-type into your notes, use the transcription tool to add text, or use the AI Editor.
- When you're happy with your notes select 'Copy Notes' in the top right corner and paste it into your patient management software. You can also save the note as a draft to come back to later.
