How does Co-Pilot work?
Co-Pilot will listen in on your appointment/exam and add information to your selected note template as it hears it, building your note up in real-time as the appointment happens.
With Co-Pilot, you'll have your note template open in front of you throughout, so you can add to it manually, and use it as a guide to make sure you're covering everything you need to ask.
By the time the appointment ends, your note is already built.
Co-Pilot can be used for a whole appointment, or just part of an appointment, or you can dictate a summary afterwards.
How to use Co-Pilot
Do I need patient consent to use this feature?
As audio recordings are not stored patient consent is not legally required, however, we do strongly advise this as a courtesy to your patients. More info here
- Open the template for the appointment type you wish to complete.
- Select the Co-Pilot button at the left of the screen. If a microphone is connected and permission has been granted transcription will start immediately. (find advice here on connecting your microphone)
- Speak as normal and Co-pilot will create a transcript of all that is said. You'll see this as a feed in the sidebar.
NOTE: When using Co-Pilot, you may need to vocalise things more than you are used to during an appointment. Stating things in very clear terms, will help give clarity and context to the AI, helping improve the quality and accuracy of your notes. - As the transcript is generated the our AI will review the content, and relevant information will be added to your template by completing existing buttons, as well as adding additional lines/buttons if necessary.
- If you wish, you can manually add to the note at the same time as Co-Pilot is running. You can select buttons as well as free type directly into the template. Any buttons selected manually cannot be overridden by Co-Pilot.
- To stop the transcript once complete, or at any point, select the stop button. You can stop and start Co-Pilot at any point.
- When you're happy with your notes select 'Copy Notes' in the top right corner and paste it into your patient management software. You can also save the note as a draft to come back to later.
Things to know about Co-Pilot
- As Co-Pilot is an AI tool we recommend you always review your Co-Pilot generated notes to ensure accuracy. AI can make mistakes, so be sure to give your notes a check-over to make sure they are as you would expect.
- There can be a slight delay between points being said and seeing them in your notes. This is because Co-Pilot requires a little time to analyse your transcript and align it with your template to ensure everything is captured accurately. This can feel slow if your watching waiting for it to happen each time, however we recommend proceeding with your appointment at a regular pace and by the end Co-Pilot will not be far behind you.
- Co-Pilot can add additional information to your templates. It's not just limited to what's already in your templates and will add information and context if it's mentioned. This process of adding additional lines is done once you stop the transcript however, so be aware some information won't appear in your note until this point.
- You can still select buttons and type into your templates whilst Co-pilot is running. Buttons you select manually cannot be overridden by Co-Pilot.
